Two (2) Maute/ISIS remnants surrendered to the troops of the 55th Infantry Battalion under the Joint Task Force Ranao in Tubaran, Lanao del Sur at 6:50pm yesterday (December 3, 2018).
A.k.a Comander and a.k.a Mamac yielded to the troops through the collective efforts of the local government of Tubaran and the government forces.
The two were involved in the first week of Marawi Siege.
Said surrenderors turned over one caliber 50 rifle and one M1 garand.
Meanwhile, 24 loose firearms, one hand grenade, and assorted ammunitions were voluntarily surrendered to the troops of the 2nd Mechanized Brigade in Tubod Cultural Center, Lanao del Norte on the same day.
“Joint efforts among local government units, local populace, other stakeholders and our troops led to this successful surrender,” said Brigadier General Thomas Sedano Jr., 2nd Mechanized Brigade Commander.
From January 1, 2018 to date, the 2nd Mech Brigade have recorded a total of 746 surrendered loose firearms.
Major General Roseller Murillo, commander of the Joint Task Force ZamPeLan commended the efforts of the troops and stakeholders involved.
“Congratulations to the troops of the Joint Task Force ZamPeLan for these accomplishments,” said Lieutenant General Arnel B. Dela Vega, commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
