3 BIFF members surrender; firearms seized in Central Mindanao

The effective campaign of government troops led to the surrender of three members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters in Central Mindanao at last June 22, 2018.

Junior Dia Kaul, Roy Saidali Maningkala, and Bin Tato Sulaiman, residents of Sitio Tukananes, Midpandakan, GSKP, Maguindanao, surrendered to the troops of the 602nd Brigade in Camp Robert Eduard M. Lucero, Barangay Nasapian, Carmen, North Cotabato, bringing along with them five high-powered firearms.

The surrenderees bearing one 7.62mm M14 rifle, a 5.56mm M16 rifle, one 5.56mm M653 carbine, and two (2) homemade sniper rifles gave their arms to authorities.

According to Major General Cirilito Sobejana, Commander of the Joint Task Force Central, the surrender is a result of the continuous offensive campaign of the WeMinCom.

“Kaul, Maningkala, and Sulaiman opted to surrender to the government authorities and return to the fold of the law as a result of the continuous pressure and the focused military operations and intelligence build-up of our troops on the ground,” said Major General Cirilito Sobejana, Commander of the Joint Task Force Central.

The three surrenderees underwent custodial debriefing while their surrendered firearms were placed under the custody of the 602nd Brigade for proper documentation and safekeeping.

“I commend the troops of the Joint Task Force Central headed by Major General Cirilito Sobejana for this recent accomplishment,” Lieutenant General Arnel B. Dela Vega said.
