Government forces apprehended 4 lawless elements during a joint law enforcement operation in Barangay Bulod, Sultan sa Barongis, Maguindanao at 8:30 am on Saturday (May 4).
Troops of the 33rd Infantry Battalion, CIDG BARMM, 2nd Mechanized Company, and 43rd SAC, 4th SAB were serving a warrant of arrest to Teddy Biang when the 3 others were also apprehended for possession of prohibited drugs (Shabu), high-powered firearms and deadly weapons.
Biang has criminal cases for violation of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Possession of Illegal Drugs), violation of RA10951 (illegal possession of firearms and explosives), and murder.
The troops also recovered drug money amounting to Php 338,500.00, assorted ammunition, drug paraphernalia, commercial radio transceiver, and other deadly weapons.
As the troops pursue the retreating cohorts of Teddy Biang, they also discovered an IED factory and a make shift drug den surrounded by marijuana plantation.
Recovered inside the drug den were dried marijuana leaves and seeds, scrap metals and metal fragments used in the manufacturing of Improvised Explosive Devices.
The barangay officials of Bulod, with the assistance of the government forces, uprooted the marijuana plants and burned the drug den in order to prevent further drug activities in the area.
“According to our source, the recovered assorted firearms and other deadly weapons are going to be used to disrupt the safe and orderly conduct of midterm national and local election 2019,” said Lieutenant Colonel Elmer Boongaling, Commanding Officer of the 33rd Infantry Battalion.
“The arrest of these lawless elements and drug personalities will certainly help in making our area of operation safer and more secure for the people,” Colonel Efren Baluyot, Commander of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade said.
Meanwhile, Major General Cirilito Sobejana, Commander of the Joint Task Force Central said that the joint law enforcement operation of the government forces is relentless in order to protect the people from lawless elements and sustain the peace and development in Central Mindanao.
“I, personally commend the troops of the Joint Task Force Central for their indefatigable support that led to the numerous accomplishments of the Command,” said Lieutenant General Arnel Dela Vega, commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
