Six more Daulah Islamiyah-Maute Group members surrender to the troops of the Joint Task Force Ranao at the Municipal Hall of Sultan Dumalondong, Lanao del Sur on Monday (October 22).
Subject surrenderors yielded to the troops of the 49th Infantry Battalion through the efforts of Sultan Dumalondong Mayor Jamel Kurangking and Barangay Malalis Chairperson, and in coordination with the PNP.
Turned over by the surrenderors were five-high powered firearms including one caliber 50 Barret rifle, three M79 grenade launcher, and one carbine rifle.
According to 49IB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Edgar Allan Villanueva, the surrenderors were followers of Sub Leader Mubarak Manalo who beleaguered the Pantar Detachment last September, 2017 as diversionary tactic while the other militants were fighting in the main battle area.
Major General Roseller Murillo of the Joint Task Force Zampelan commended the AFP, PNP and LGU for the good aftermath of their strong collaboration and coordination.
“We will continue to establish good relationship with the Police and the stakeholders as we conduct our joint battle against terrorism, insurgency, and any form of criminality,” said LtGen Arnel Dela Vega of the Western Mindanao Command.
