Lieutenant General Arnel Bernardino Dela Vega is the 10th commander of the Western Mindanao Command – Armed Forces of the Philippines. Like his predecessor, Lieutenant General Dela Vega is also a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy, Sandiwa Class of 1985.
Lt. Gen. Dela Vega is a Scout Ranger, Special Forces, and Intelligence qualified. He graduated top 12 of his class at the Philippine Military Academy, third in the Military Intelligence Course, fourth in the Infantry Officer Advance Course, third in the Command and General Staff Course, and Valedictorian in the Special Forces Operation Course are among his exceptional academic achievements.
He completed his Master of Management Studies in Human Resource Management at the University of New South Wales, Australia.
He has spent most of his 33 years and 4 months in the military service in Luzon and at the strife-ridden areas of Sulu and Central Mindanao. Prior to his current designation, Lt. Gen. Dela Vega was the Division Commander of the 6th Infantry Division, Philippine Army located in Camp Siongco, Awang, D.O.S, Maguindanao.
His hard work have been remunerated with various awards and commendations including 1 Distinguished Service Star, 1 Gold Cross Medal, 4 Bronze Medals, and 44 Military Merit and Commendation Medals.
Lt. Gen. Dela Vega is happily married to Mrs. Divina Dela Vega and blessed with five children namely: John Kevin, Keith Dianne, Kim Ellaine, Karen Eunice, and Karel Denise.
