Former Abu Sayyaf and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) rebels joined the Governor’s Cup hosted by Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Governor Mujiv S. Hataman in partnership with the 6th Infantry Division and the Cotabato City Rifle and Pistol Association (CCRPA) held at the 6ID Firing Range, Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao on Saturday (December 22, 2018).
The activity, which aimed to strengthen the camaraderie and friendship among active partners for peace and development in the ARMM, was Hataman’s expression of gratitude to his constituents and other stakeholders who were with him in all of his successes during his stint as the Regional Governor of ARMM.
The surrenderors expressed their gratitude to the 6ID and the Regional Government of ARMM as they felt the acceptance and friendship while participating the event.
Other participants of the Regional Governor Shoot fest dubbed as “RG’s Cup” were representatives from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), Joint Task Force Central, Philippine National Police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Philippine Air Force, Local Government Units, Media practitioners, Non-Government Organizations, United States Army, and International Monitoring Team (IMT).
“We are shooting for fun, winning is just a secondary to our love of the game, what is important…is we enjoy and we achieve the objective of building our friendship and camaraderie,” Joint Task Force Central Commander Major General Cirilito E. Sobejana said during his welcome remarks.
Governor Hataman, on his message said, “Nakakatuwa ang araw na ito, dahil ang mga dating naglalaban ay nandirito upang magpapaputok sa isang katuwaan at kasiyahan.”
“Nagkakasama-sama tayong lahat sa iisang lugar at lokasyon, hindi upang magtalo, kundi tayo ay maglibang, bilang magkakaibigan na isinusulong ang kapayapaan at katahimikan sa Mindanao.” he added.
“This is one astounding activity where erstwhile rivals gather and become allies for peace and development in Mindanao,” said Lieutenant General Arnel B. Dela Vega, commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
