Arms cache seized by troops in Maguindanao

Amid the conduct of combat clearing operation, troops of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion discovered an arms cache in Barangay Buayan, Datu Piang, Maguindanao around 7:30 am yesterday (February 7, 2019).

Seized were one M653 carbine, one M653 carbine COLT AR-15, one M203 40MM GL, one caliber .45 pistol, one caliber .38 pistol, and assorted magazines and ammunitions.

Acting on a report of the presence of armed men in the vicinity, believed to be members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters, the army troops immediately conducted clearing operation that resulted in the discovery of the arms cache which was a vacant comfort room at the back of the Barangay Hall of the aforementioned barangay.

“The timely and accurate information provided by the concerned civilian led to the recovery of said valuable war materials,” Joint Task Force Central Commander Major General Cirilito E. Sobejana said.

“We will sustain our commitment to ensure the safety and security of the people in Central Mindanao against the BIFF who sow terror and create fear in the community,” MGen Sobejana added.

WestMinCom chief Lieutenant General Arnel B. Dela Vega commended the troops of the Joint Task Force Central for the prompt response to the report.

“Ang karahasan ay maiiwasan kung lahat tayo ay nagtutulungan. Ang suporta ng mamamayan ay malaking tulong upang kami ay magtagumpay sa aming misyon na wakasan ang terorismo dito sa Mindanaw. Kami ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa inyong lahat,” added LtGen Dela Vega.
