Troops of the 14th Division Reconnaissance Company recovered high powered firearms and war materiel left by the fleeing NPA militants in Jimenez, Misamis Occidental after their armed confrontation around 7:50am today.
The army soldiers were conducting pursuit operation when they encountered the NPA fighters which resulted to the slight wounding of one soldier and a number of casualties on the enemy side as evidenced by the bloodstains in the encounter site.
Recovered on the encounter site were two AK47 rifles, one M16 with M203 grenade launcher, one rifle grenade, blasting caps, IEDs, medical supplies, and ammunitions.
Meanwhile, around 4pm yesterday, the 10th Infantry Battalion encountered 15 NPAs in Panaon, Misamis Occidental. No government trooper was hurt while casualties on the enemy side is yet to be determined.
“The combat operation was conducted in response to the report of a concerned civilian regarding NPA’s presence in their community,” said Colonel Bagnus Gaerlan, the 102nd Infantry Brigade Commander.
Joint Task Force Zampelan Commander Major General Roseller Murillo, commended the troops and assures medical support to wounded soldier.
“We will continue to exhaust all means to disallow the NPA to thrive in the communities,” said Lieutenant General Arnel B. Dela Vega.
