A Communist NPA Terrorist (CNT) surrendered to the troops of the 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion in Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur last Tuesday (October 30, 2018).
The CNT was identified as a.k.a Pipoy, a member of Platoon Basil, MRGU, Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee.
Pipoy also yielded two AK47 to Lieutenant Colonel Marlowe Patria, 53rd Infantry Battalion commander.
During the initial custodial debriefing, Pipoy relayed that he got tired of hiding and evading government troops.
Pipoy will be granted the benefits from the Enhanced Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the government.
Major General Roseller Murillo, Joint Task Force Zampelan Commander, commended the troops for the successful surrender of the NPA.
“We encourage other NPAs to surrender and take advantage of the E-CLIP. It will provide them an opportunity to return into the mainstream society and together we will solve their problems in a peaceful way,” Major General Murillo added.
WestMinCom Chief Lieutenant General Arnel B. Dela Vega lauded the officers, men, and women of the Joint Task Force ZamPeLan for their relentless efforts in neutralizing the threat groups.
