A total of eight (8) heavy equipment owned by JANMERC Builders Construction were burned down by the Communist NPA Terrorists in two different locations in Sultan Kudarat on Monday (January 7, 2019).
A concerned civilian reported the incident to the personnel of the 2nd Marine Company of the Marine Battalion Landing Team-2 based in Barangay Hinalaan that more or less twenty (20) fully armed men wearing assorted camouflage uniforms and believed to be members of the NPA burned 5 heavy equipment in Sitio Midpanga, Barangay Hinalaan, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat around 4am of the said date.
Damaged equipment include: one (1) pay loader; one (1) LC 50 pay loader; one (1) transit mixer; one (1) dump truck; and one (1) road roller.
Moreover, around 4:30 of the same day, more or less 5 communist terrorists set fire on 3 other equipment of the said construction company in Sitio Lower Saniag of the same barangay.
“The resistance of the company that owns the equipment to give in to the demands of the NPA might have frustrated them causing them to burn the equipment,” said one of the JANMERC personnel.
“This is a terroristic and desperate attack committed by the NPA. We will continue to go after the rebel group to ensure that they will not be able to sow fear among the peace loving citizens of Kalamansig,” said Major General Cirilito E. Sobejana, Commander of the Joint Task Force Central.
Joint AFP and PNP Law Enforcement Operation is currently being conducted to go after the perpetrators.
“We encourage everyone not to be afraid and to immediately report to the proper authorities any threat or extortion received from the terrorist groups,” said Lieutenant General Arnel B. Dela Vega, commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
