As the 2019 midterm election is fast approaching, security forces intensify its preparation for the said significant event.
In line with this, a conference was held by the Regional Joint Security Control Center (RJSCC) of Region IX at the Police Regional Office IX in Camp Colonel Romeo Abendan, Mercedes, this city earlier today (May 3).
Present during the activity were Brigadier General Generoso Ponio, Deputy Commander for Operations of the Western Mindanao Command; Brigadier General Roberto Ancan, Joint Task Force ZamPeLan commander; Brigadier General Bagnus Gaerlan, commander of the 102nd Brigade; Colonel Leonel Nicolas, commander of the Joint Task Force Zamboanga; Colonel Ismael Mandanas, Jr., Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Operations of the Western Mindanao Command; Attorney Remlane Tambuang, Regional Election Director of COMELEC ROIX; Attorney John Paul Cubero, Acting Assistant Regional Election Director (COMELEC Region IX); Police Brigadier General Emmanuel Luis Licup, Regional Director of the PNP ROIX; provincial directors of the PNP provincial offices; Election officers; other officers and men of the AFP and PNP; and Representatives from the Philippine Coast Guard, Western Mindanao Power Corporation, religious sectors, and other election stakeholders.
Briefings concerning to the election preparations of respective agencies were presented by representatives of the RJSCC members.
In his message JTF ZamPeLan commander, Brigadier General Roberto Ancan, encouraged all the members to work together to achieve an honest, orderly, peaceful, free and credible elections.
“We must be non-partisan and we must ensure a fair, orderly and peaceful election. We must also ensure the safety and security of the troops as well as the voters in your respective provinces,” BGen Ancan said.
“Though we are now focused on the preparations for the election, we at the PNP and the AFP still have to do our joint law enforcement operation and our focused military operation against all threat groups in our respective area of operation. We must sustain our strong coordination and cooperation especially this coming midterm election,” he added.
