Gov’t forces seize smuggled cigarettes in Zambo City

Military troops and law enforcement agencies in this city confiscated 12,640 rims of cigarettes worth 11 million pesos on Saturday, February 9.

MV Kristel Jane 3, a passenger vessel from Jolo, Sulu, carried the smuggled items, according to the troops.

Government forces consisted of naval, marine, and air force troops under Western Mindanao Command and personnel of Field Station Zamboanga, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 9, Coast Guard Station Zamboanga, and Bureau of Customs.

Military troops turned over the smuggled cigarettes seized at Zamboanga City International Port to the BOC for proper disposition.

“Troops will bolster operations and assist law enforcers to curb smuggling and address its adverse effects on local industries,” said Lieutenant General Arnel Dela Vega, the commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
