A grenade was thrown by still unidentified perpetrator inside the Kamahaldikaan Mosque in Sitio Logoy Diutay, Barangay Talon-Talon, Zamboanga City at the wee hours of January 30, 2019.
Based on initial report, the explosion resulted in two (2) deaths and 4 wounded.
Declared dead upon arrival at the Zamboanga City Medical Center were identified as:
1. Haj Sattal Bato, 46 years of age
2. Rex Habil-46 years of age
The wounded victims are identified as:
1. Palson Asgali- 46 years old
2. Alnizcar Sabbaha-41 years old
3. Jikilani Albani-67 years old
4. Amidz Kassara-30 years old.
Accordingly, the victims are members of Tabligh from Basilan, who have been in the said mosque since Monday (January 28).
Join Task Force Zamboanga Commander, Colonel Leonel M. Nicolas, emphasized that the blast is not a retaliatory act.
“The incident is under investigation. We are assisting the wounded at the Zamboanga City Medical Center,” he added.
Troops from the AFP and the PNP immediately cordoned the blast site.
“We call on the public not to draw speculations and spread fake news in the social media relating this incident to the explosion in Sulu. It will just result to further distress,” said WestMinCom Chief Lieutenant General Arnel B. Dela Vega.
“I personally seek for your prayers for the eternal repose of those who were killed in the incident and for fast recovery of those who are currently recuperating at the hospital. I also call for unity, let us not be divided by the recent incidents instead, let us work as one for the perpetrators to be immediately identified and neutralized,” he concluded.
