Another Abu Sayyaf Group member yielded in Sulu on 21 October 2019, bringing along with him one high-powered firearm. Alhashim Paradji, a.k.a. Malla, 41, married, and a resident of Barangay Lapa, Maimbung, Sulu voluntarily surrendered to 41st Infantry Battalion commanding officer Lt. Col. Alaric Avelino Delos Santos at the unit’s headquarters in Sitio Bato Habah, Barangay Matatal, same municipality 2pm on the same day.
Subject surrenderor turned over one R&R Garand US rifle. “Paradji operated under ASG sub-leader Jihad Susukan, a.k.a. Idang,” said Lt. Col. Delos Santos. Paradji and the surrendered firearm were then presented to 1102nd Brigade Commander Col. Ignatius Patrimonio in Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista, Busbus, Jolo, Sulu.
“We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to our partners from the police and the LGU for their untiring support in all our endeavors,” said Col. Patrimonio.
The successful surrender of Paradji was facilitated by the troops from the 41IB, Maimbung Municipality Police Station, Municipal Councilor Almudzni Amil, and Association of Barangay Captains President Edzfar Tan.
“With the implementation of the whole-of-nation approach, it is expected that more abus will yield in the coming days,” Maj. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, commander of the JTF Sulu said.
The surrenderor underwent medical check-up at KHTB Station Hospital prior his current custodial debriefing at the 41IB headquarters. “Team WestMinCom continue with our efforts to provide assistance to our surrenderors and to encourage those who are still having second thoughts to yield,” said WestMinCom commander, Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana.
“We hope that the number of ASG surrenderors will continue to snowball as we sustain our peace campaign in Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi,” Lt. Gen. Sobejana added.
