Loose firearms yielded to troops in LDS

A number of loose firearms were recently yielded to the operating troops of the 103rd Brigrade in Lanao del Sur. A Caliber .30 Garand Rifle was surrendered to the 55th Infantry Battalion on October 20, by Satar Emmandatu, after his involvement in an incident of indiscriminate firing last October 16 in Barangay Ngingir, Calanogas.

On the same day, one M653 and one M16A1 rifles with magazines and ammunitions were also surrendered to the 82nd Infantry Battalion in Barangay Pawak, Saguiaran while a local terrorist group member to the same unit at 2pm yesterday, October 21.

Aminudin Datu a.k.a. Abu Jannah/Abu Nasraula also turned over one Browning Automatic Rifle, 1 Caliber .45 Handgun, magazines, and ammunitions. “Datu was involved in the series of armed encounters in Gacap, Piagapo, Marawi City, Mantapoli, and Marantao prior the Marawi siege,” said Lt. Col. Rafman Altre, commander of the 82IB. “He also served as the guide of the local terrorist group in Paridi, Piagapo”.


In his message, Col. Jose Maria Cuerpo II, acting commander of the 103rd Infantry Brigade said that the recent accomplishments were attributed to the peace-loving local chief executives, locals, and stakeholders of Lanao del Sur.

Meanwhile, JTF ZamPeLan commander Maj. Gen. Roberto Ancan said, “Your 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division, in collaboration with the LGUs and other stakeholders, remains steadfast in our campaign against local terrorists and will continue to seize loose firearms in our area of operation.

” WestMinCom chief, Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, lauded the troops for their series of accomplishments and their unwavering support to the success of the unit’s mission.
