Marine troops rescue distressed fisherman in Sulu

Troops of the 82nd Marine Company of the Inshore Boat Battalion (IBBN) rescued a 48 year old distressed fisherman in the waters of Panglima Tahil, Sulu on Saturday (October 21).

The marines were having a team building activity when they sighted a banca struggling against the huge waves. They immediately proceeded to the location to rescue the boat operator identified as Ahmedjari Hadjire, a fisherman from Bangas, Panglima Tahil, Sulu.

Hadjire relayed that the engine of his banca malfunctioned after being accidentally submerged in water due to rough seas caused by bad weather in the area.

“The vigilance of our marine troopers is very commendable. They illustrated how dedicated soldiers are to render assistance to those in need even during their break time,” said Lieutenant General Arnel B. Dela Vega.
