Medical outreach held in Maguindanao

The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Humanitarian Emergency Action Team (ARMM-HEART) in coordination with the 5th Special Forces Battalion (5SFBn) extended free medical and dental services to around 200 beneficiaries held in Barangay Bagumbayan, Kabuntalan, Maguindanao on November 11, 2018.

The 5th SFBn, together with the 6th Infantry Division Medical Team, was instrumental in providing humanitarian assistance during the conduct of People’s Day with the combined efforts of the provincial government of ARMM and its line agencies such as the Department of Social Workers and Development, Department of Environmental and Natural Resources, Department of Health, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Department of Agrarian Reform, Regional Darul Ifta, Regional Trial Court, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Department of Labor and Employment.

70 beneficiaries received free medical check-ups; 20 beneficiaries acquired dental services; and 5 children underwent circumcision.

Other services offered were supplemental food feeding to 60 children and lecture on fire safety by the BFP.

Joint Task Force Central Commander Major General Cirilito E. Sobejana said that the strong collaboration and determination among the government agencies and the military is the key factor to a successful humanitarian activity in the remote areas of Maguindanao.

“Our strong relationship with the partner stakeholders and our participation in the conduct of humanitarian activities bring us closer to the people thus greatly contribute to the success of our mission to prevent and counter violent extremism here in Mindanao,” said Lieutenant General Arnel B. Dela Vega, Commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
