Peace and Order programs discussed to Kampilan troopers

Two local chief executives were invited to speak before the Kampilan troopers to discuss plans, programs, and services related to maintaining peace and order in Cotabato City during the flag raising ceremony at the Headquarters, 6th Infantry Division yesterday morning (December 03, 2018).

Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi of Cotabato City emphasized that there is a need to have political will and determination to solve the problems on waste disposal, public infrastructures, drainage canals, and high criminality rates.

The activation of Task Force Kutawato to further improve the peace and order situation in Cotabato City was a result of the strong partnership between the local government and the 6th Infantry Division which made the city the second safest city in the Philippines and number one safest city in Mindanao. This was also due to the strong coordination of all the security forces, civic organizations, barangay leaders, and the people of Cotabato City.

Congresswoman Bai Sandra Sema of the 1st District of Maguindanao on the other hand, spoke about the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), as she is one of the authors of the legislation and stressed that BOL is an edict of the whole country that wants peace.

“BOL is not a religious statement or the deepening of the cultural divide or an advancement of life of group of people. Rather, it guarantees religious freedom as enshrined in our constitution,” Congresswoman Sema said.

“Now that the BOL has been signed into a law and is only awaiting ratification come January 21, 2019, we have silenced our weapons and pin our hopes in the dawning of peace in the Bangsamoro homeland,” she added.

After the ceremony, MGen Sobejana had a brief dialogue with Congresswoman Sema and Mayor Guiani.

Major General Cirilito Sobejana said that communication is really important in order to strengthen and intensify peace and order.
