Since January 01, 2018, Joint Task Force Basilan (JTFB), Western Mindanao Command, AFP, successfully implemented programs and projects on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE).
Joint Task Force Basilan focused its attention in developing the social and emotional health of the students in Madrasahs, its teachers, and the community, since they are the most vulnerable in the recruitment to terrorist organizations.
To support this program, JTFB initiated a joint project with the Basilan Ulama Supreme Council (BUSC) by donating chairs, blackboards, and playground amenities for the students of Madrasahs along Basilan Circumferential Road (BCR).
This initiative is aimed at instilling in the minds of the students in madrasahs and the communities that soldiers are not their enemies. Such that these soldiers are one with them in the quest for lasting peace in the province.
Joint Task Force Basilan hopes that this act of goodwill produce a long-term positive effect to the children, community, and to the general institution of Madarris.
JTFB successfully hands over nine sets of playground amenities, black boards, and chairs to the selected Madrasah along Basilan Circumferential Road (BCR).
In his statement, JTF Basilan Fernando M. Reyeg said that JTFB is committed to end terrorism in its joint area of operations. In cooperation with the local government units of Basilan, Religious Leaders (BUSC), and other key stakeholders, the current thrust is to sustain the gains and secure Basilan so that development and prosperity will further take place.
