Naval Forces Western Mindanao formally turned over the tenancy of three (3) Naval Detachments to the Task Force Zamboanga through a ceremonial turnover held at the Naval Station Rio Hondo around 9am yesterday (December 27, 2018).
The newly constructed detachments are strategically located at the Southeastern coastlines particularly in Liha-Liha, Layag-Layag, and Sumatra of Barangay Talon-Talon, Zamboanga City.
Said detachments were operationalized by the Naval Forces Western Mindanao through the Task Force Zamboanga to seal off the ingress and egress and secure the coastal barangays of the city against the threat groups.
The ceremonial handing over of the Symbolic Key from Commander, Naval Forces Western Mindanao Rear Admiral Rene V. Medina to Task Force Zamboanga Commander Colonel Leonel M. Nicolas was presided by Zamboanga City Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar.
The operationalization of the Naval Detachments was made possible through the efforts of the local government particularly the Zamboanga Rehabilitation Roadmap to Recovery (Z3R) in putting up a military in former conflict zones to ensure security in Zamboanga City.
