From January 01, 2018 to date, Joint Task Force Basilan was able to launch Five (5) Brigade initiated intensified focused military operations (FMO).
These operations led to the successful recovery and surrender of forty nine (49) assorted HPFA/LPFA, neutralization (surrendered/killed/apprehended) of seventy one (71) ASG personalities to include Nurhassan Jamiri a.k.a Bekat, number 2 HVT ASG in the region, and thirteen (13) of his followers, seizure of two (2) enemy encampments, and apprehension of foreign terrorist Abdelhakim Labidi Adib, a Moroccan national.
These operations were made possible through the intensified intelligence operation of the unit and also through the help of the local government units particularly the Provincial Government of Basilan led by the Provincial Governor Jim Hataman Salliman who was very active in leading the fight against terrorism.
Colonel Fernando M. Reyeg, Commander of the Joint Task Force Basilan, in his statement outlined the help being provided by the LGUs and the community in addressing the scourge terrorism.
“The war against terrorism has been successful and the ASG is nearing its end. In cooperation with the local government units of Basilan, we will be sustaining our gains in securing Basilan so that development and prosperity will further take place.”
