Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of Western Mindanao Command, joined our Muslim brothers and sisters in the celebration of the Eid al-Adha in this city today, August 12.
“The observance of the Eid al Adha encourages us to bridge the gap and join our efforts towards building the unshakable foundation for a culture of peace,” said Sobejana. “If we work together as a team- the religious sector, the government sector, the traditional leaders, and all other sectors- we can be unstoppable.”
Lt. Gen Sobejana vowed to work with the Muslim community in their advocacy towards “peaceful co-existence and respect between Muslims and non-Muslims amidst the very challenging times.”
Present were Atty. Jose Lorena, of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority; Engr. Mohammad Ali Urao, chairman of the Muslim Student Association Council of Elders Foundation, Inc.; Fr. Francisco Parilla, chaplain of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University; Police Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir, city director of Zamboanga City Police Office; and Roberto Villacura, of Senator Cynthia Villar Regional Political Officer.
The Eid al-Adha celebration was held at Palacio del Sur in Gov. Camins Ave., this city at 2pm today.
