As the newly designated WestMinCom commander, LtGen Dela Vega made his first visit to the troops of Joint Task Force Tawi-Taw last 6 June 2018. LtGen Dela Vega is set to visit all units under the joint areas of operation of the command to personally engage with the troops, to boost further their morale, and to determine the operational requirements of each unit.
During his visit, LtGen Dela Vega officiated the pinning of awards to the deserving enlisted personnel of the Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi and inaugurated the newly built barracks of the 2nd Marine Brigade which was named after the 1st Marines who died during the Marawi siege, Sergeant Rudy A. Espelimburgo. He also visited the Navy troops at the Naval Station Juan Magluyan in Barangay Batu-Batu, Panglima Sugala, Tawi-Tawi and took a chance to worship at the Sheik Makhdum Mosque in Simunul Island.
In his message, LtGen Dela Vega commended the troops led by Brigadier General Custodio Parcon for the very impressive and excellent accomplishment of their mission.
“Since February 2017, wala na tayong recorded na kidnapping incidents that transpired within your area of operations,” LtGen Dela Vega said.
He also stressed that the challenge now is how to sustain and maintain the peace and order in the province of Tawi-Tawi.
LtGen Arnel Dela Vega encourages all the troops to exert their best efforts in the performance of their duties and responsibilities.
“Always bear in mind that success follows when we do the right things and do the things right,” LtGen Dela Vega ended.
