Preservation and protection of marine life facilitated by troops

With its mandate to preserve and protect marine life in the coastal area of Sulu, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in partnership with the Marine Battalion Landing Team-3, deployed and installed artificial reefs in Barangays Kansipat and Seit Higad of Panamao, Sulu.

This is one of the measures that the BFAR do in order to preserve and protect marine life and provide a safe haven for fishes in the coastline of Panamao, Sulu.

Fishing is the basic source of income of the residents in the said municipality and this undertaking would greatly help the local fishermen to sustain their livelihood.

“Aside from the conduct of focused military operations against the Abu Sayyaf, our troops in Sulu will continue to support the implementation of the various activities in coordination with other line agencies that will aid in the socio-economic advancement in the province,” said Lieutenant General Arnel Dela Vega.
